Asbestos is a naturally occurring, fibrous mineral that is heat resistant and was previously used in a wide variety of building construction materials. Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) become health hazards when they are disturbed and become “friable,” meaning the microscopic fibers become airborne. People can then inhale these fibers into the lungs, eventually causing significant health problems such as Asbestosis, Mesothelioma, or Lung Cancer.

Asbestos is a hidden hazard – it is impossible to tell if a material contains asbestos by looking at it and asbestos fibers are invisible in the air. Asbestos is only detectable through laboratory analysis.

If you are planning a renovation or demolition, laws are in place that require an Asbestos Survey conducted by a certified professional. This applies to commercial properties and residential properties proposed for commercial use.

Asbestos Surveys

Nabholz Environmental Services has an experienced and well-trained staff knowledgeable about all aspects of asbestos regulatory standards. We have conducted surveys at all types of facilities, for purposes ranging from pre-renovation or pre-demolition activities and asbestos management in schools.

We carefully arrange all onsite work efforts with our client in order to facilitate access, occupant communication, and sampling scope. Our inspectors assess and sample all suspect building materials and collect samples for laboratory analysis. Upon completion of testing, a final report is prepared and submitted to the client. We provide this survey methodology, sample locations, analytical results, description of materials with positive analytical results, and recommendations are in the final report. After the submittal of the final report, we are happy to discuss the most suitable and cost-efficient options for any ACMs present at your facility.
