Saint Mark Baptist Church Opens Youth Building

June 14th, 2016 - By

Saint Mark Baptist Church is located on 12th Street in Little Rock – an area that has struggled with poverty and crime over the years. Saint Mark has been a community pillar, reaching out to area residents with programs to feed the homeless. Recently, the church has shifted its focus to serving the children of their community, many of which are at-risk youth. The church committed to that goal in a big way this past Sunday by celebrating the grand opening of its new Children and Youth Center.

Church members raised the funds to build this 50,000-square-foot, three-story building totally dedicated to the positive development of the area’s youth. The building is divided up into spaces for elementary, middle school, and high school-aged children. Though the church will hold Sunday school classes there, this building is not intended to be a youth church. It’s a place where kids can be kids – listen to music, play video games, and socialize.

The Children and Youth Center is already being put to good use. The Friday night before the grand opening over 1,400 people came to the new building for a youth premier party night. The Little Rock School District has also already used the center to conduct mock interviews with graduating seniors to better set them up for success after school.

Nabholz was proud to serve as the general contractor on this project.
