UACCM Workforce Training Center

This Workforce Training Center at the University of Arkansas Community College in Morrilton was designed to provide premier training facilities for skilled craftsmen. The Work Force Training Center is unique in several ways. The building needed functional classroom and technical skills lab spaces, with some spaces serving both these purposes. UACCM also wanted to use elements of the building itself as a teaching platform for future students. Exposed ceilings and elements of the structure allow the students to visualize and study the structural, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical components of the building itself.

The facility houses five classrooms, a 13-bay auto service lab, 5,400-square-foot welding lab, residential HVAC lab, commercial refrigeration lab, hydraulics lab, and two electrical labs. A 4,700-square-foot conference center also doubles as a storm shelter during inclement weather.  The project also focused on responsible building, sourcing sustainable materials to earn LEED accreditation (LEED Silver).
