Nabholz Construction Services will be featured in the HBO documentary, The Weight of the Nation. Airing May 14 and 15, 2012, the local company will be spotlighted in the final hour of the four hour documentary showcasing their corporate wellness program and their efforts to combat obesity and other preventable health problems.
Three years in the making, The Weight of the Nation examines the facts and myths of this urgent public health issue, showing how obesity affects the health of the nation and the health care system. The film features case studies and interviews with leading experts, individuals and families struggling with obesity. The series also highlights how individuals, worksites, and communities are making positive changes. An additional segment titled, Overweight in the Workplace: How Wellness Programs Can Help the American Workforce, focusing exclusively on Nabholz is available on the HBO website.
Jayme Mayo, PA-C/Wellness Director for Nabholz Construction Services and Bill Hannah, CEO of Nabholz were both interviewed and featured extensively in the documentary along with employee participants in the Nabholz Wellness Program.
“We committed to a culture of health at Nabholz over five years ago. HBO spent time with us documenting the positive impacts that commitment has brought to our employees, their families and our communities,” said Mayo. Hannah added “Our employee’s health is a primary concern of our company. Having our wellness program be recognized internationally is a testament to the value of the program.”
In the United States, 68 percent of adults age 20 and older are overweight or obese, while 31.7% of the nation’s children and adolescents ages two to 19 are overweight or obese. Obesity contributes to five of the 10 leading causes of death in America, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, many cancers and stroke.

I just watched your segment on Weight of the Nation. It was amazing. If these guys can get healthy with their busy schedules, anyone can. Thanks for all you do.
Jayme – thank you so much for your time yesterday. It was great connecting and hearing more of the details behind the great work you have done at Nabholz. Grass roots change is incredibly difficult. The leadership commitment from Nabholz and your ability to personally connect with the people of Nabholz are clearly the foundation stones for driving this type of necessary change! I look forward to keeping in touch in the future.
Dr. Osborn,

I am very excited about your trailblazing efforts to fight obesity in the workplace. Could you send me any additional information about your program, including why you started it, how you conducted it, the system of incentives you developed, and results? I am interested both in benefits to the individual workers and to the company. Personal stories would also be appreciated.
