Arkansas Department of Emergency Management


Nabholz Construction served as general contractor for this new 39,000-square foot, 2-story concrete and steel structure housing for the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management.

The high-tech marvel, designed by Witsell, Evans and Rasco of Little Rock, Arkansas and Staikos Associates of Wilmington, Delaware provided a collaborative workspace for all state agencies, government officials and law enforcement. Here they will receive disaster-related information and work together in making decisions with quick response to emergencies such as an act of terrorism or natural disaster.

This facility features the following:

• Open floor plan with workstations
• Multiple offices
• Full service kitchen
• Garage
• Large training/media room
• Governors’ conference room
• High-tech emergency operations center (control room)
• Living quarters
• Directors’ suite

This building was designed and constructed to remain up and operational while withstanding a direct hit from an F-4 tornado and an earthquake.
