Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality


Nabholz Construction served as general contractor for this beautiful new 6-story 124,310-square-foot office building located North Little Rock, Arkansas which serves as headquarters for Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).


The facility encompasses cubical office space with natural lighting throughout, break rooms, conference rooms, laboratories, and approximately 15,000 square feet of storage for boats, testing equipment, and trucks.

ADEQ is the first green state office building in Arkansas receiving Three Globe Standard from the Green Building Institute and is seeking LEED Silver certification. Some of the sustainable features include:

• Extensive use of natural light throughout the facility
• High-efficiency landscape irrigation system
• Dual-flush valves on water closets
• Waterless urinals
• 50% of on-site generated construction waste diverted from the landfill
• 10% recycled content in building material
• 20% project materials manufactured regionally
• 90% daylight views of space
• Highly-reflective roof system used to reduce heat island effect
• Indoor air-quality plan throughout the building
• Low emission woods, paint, and carpet
• Fundamental building system commissioning process
• Site lighting does not have any off-site light pollution
